I took the Metro over to the area with all the car rental agencies and found a local company that would rent a Fiat Sceicento to me for 21 Euro a day and which was willing to extend my rental if I called. I rented the car for 4 days to start with. By the time I returned it, it had been 16.
I took off for Delphi, hoping to get there by 12:30 so I could see the site before it closed at 14:30. I didn't end up on the biggest road when I left Athens, so it didn't seem like I was going to make it in time. At the same time as I decided to take my time and see other things, I saw a sign for the Fortress of Eleutherai. I took the one lane (total) dirt road to visit it and climbed on it for a while. That was fun.
I stopped to visit the museum in Thebes. I was the only one
there, so the woman who took my money followed me around the museum.
When I went behind a wall in the middle of a room and she couldn't see
me, she'd move to that side of the room. It was sort of distracting.
Outside, they had some cool tile mosaics on the wall.
I stopped at a War Memorial on the way to Delphi. The date on it was April 25th, 1944.
