The gorge was gorgeous. I took nearly a 100 pictures, but it was hard to capture the size of the place. I had that problem a lot in Greece. The camera just can't hold the size of the sights or sites. Here are a few pictures to give you an idea...
It started with lots of stairs and then became a downward-sloping trail.
A random view down the canyon:
In places, it got really narrow.
The walls were amazing. You could see the layers of sedimentary build up, with the lines vertical in some spots, and horizontal or diagonal in others.
There were a few trees growing out of the middle of the walls!
We saw a bunch of goats along the way. We weren't sure if they were the endangered Kri-Kri or not.
At the bottom of the gorge, there's a nearly deserted town. Here are a few of its residents.
After the gorge, we had a while to catch the ferry, so I bought a bathing suit and joined Michelle and Tamara in the water. Machelle had already bought a suit and didn't want to buy another -- neither of us had packed a suit for the hike. The water was cold, but really clear and refreshing.
Here are a few pictures from the ferry ride back to the bus back to Hania.
After dinner, we wandered around in the Venetian quarter until late.
